The islands lie in a westbound arch around main Scotland, from the
Orkneys with Scapa and Highland Park in the northeast, over the Inner
Hebrides down to Arran - astonishing even this island is classified
as "Highlands" although lying south of some typical Lowland distilleries.
Whisky from the islands is characterised more or less by smoke and seaweed, with fruity or heathery undertones.
